Korth ====================================================================== LUCY BLACK Mrs. Lucy Black, who lived in her home in Magnet that she might be near her children, was taken sick three weeks ago with troubles usual to people in advance years and passed away February 19th aged 74 years, 3 months and 24 days. Her sons and daughter who lived near were with her constantly and all that loving care could do, these faithful children performed for their mother. Neighbors who have been her acquaintances for years called to extend their sympathy and to offer any help needed. Thus a long and useful life gently and quietly passed away, leaving a host of friends and neighbors to mourn their loss besides the immediate family that have meant so much to her. The Funeral services were held Sunday at the Christian Church of Magnet where she has been a consistent member for twenty-five years, having joined the church and received her baptism into Christ in December 1902. Lucy Tedrow was born in Athens county Ohio, October 26, 1851. Her parents bought her to Mt. Pleasant, Henry county Iowa in 1854. She was married to Samuel Black September 16, 1869. They moved to Randolph in 1891 and have lived in the vicinity of Randolph and Magnet ever since. Her husband, Samuel died March 9, 1911 and was laid to rest in the Magnet Cemetery. She leaves two sons and three daughters; Harlan Black of Holt county; Ross Black of McLean, Mrs. Mel Furness of Magnet, Mrs. Walter Jones of Bloomfield and Mrs. Carl Jones of Magnet. 34 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. William White.
