Korth ====================================================================== L.G. BURCH, 71 DIES AT MAGNET L. G. Burch, Magnet citizen for nearly 18 years, succumbed to a serious illness of nine weeks duration when he passed peacefully away at 1:45 Tuesday morning. Mr. Burch’s last illness dated from March 28 when he took to his bed; previously he had suffered and was in frail physical condition to withstand the attack that proved fatal. A strong heart kept its steadily beat when watchers at his bedside often feared the end had come. Chronic intestinal obstruction was the cause of death. Loren Grant Burch was born May 20, 1861 on a farm in Jones County, Iowa; he attended the rural schools there and at Wyoming, Iowa and business college at Council Bluffs. He was married to Nell K. Patterson on March 2, 1887 at Anamosa, Iowa and they began housekeeping on the farm that was his boyhood home. In December 1905, Mr. and Mrs. Burch came to Nebraska and engaged in farming two miles south and 1 ½ west of Magnet. Here they lived until failing eyesight made it necessary that Mr. Burch retire from active work. In the fall of 1914 he moved to Magnet where he lived until his death. During his illness, his wife cared for him tenderly and faithfully, and was a constant watcher at his bedside. He was patient and uncomplaining through his illness and through the year of failing eyesight. Deceased leaves his wife, his son and two grandchildren, also his brother, A.M. Burch of Minneapolis and his sister, Mrs. H.L. Peck of Randolph.
