Coop, son of Rueben Jefferson Coop and Emmeline Decker Coop was born at Sigourny, Iowa on March 30th, 1870 and passed from this life on July 16th, 1945 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jay L. Constable at Magnet, being at the time of his death 75 years, 3 month and 16 days of age. As a boy he moved with his parents to Kansas, where he spent several years and as a young man returned to Iowa, to Grinnell. Here he was united in marriage to Anna Utley, on the 7th day of December 1892. To this union was born seven children, two having preceded their father in death. After his marriage he farmed in the Grinnell vicinity for years, after which the family moved to a farm near Creighton, Nebraska where they resided three years. Since that time Mr. Coop has been laboring as a farm hand in the vicinities of Wausa, Hartington and Magnet. He was a competent worker and never knew what it was to be idle. He found deep joy in doing things for others. Even in the closing years of his life his service was sought by many. He enjoyed good health until last March when he suffered a hard attack of sickness, and which ultimately resulted in his passing. In spite of the pain he suffered, he was always cheerful and considerate of others to the last. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Anna Coop of Magnet, two daughters, Mrs. Jay Constable of Magnet and Mrs. Chas. Thomas of Klammath Falls, Oregon; three sons, Cecil of Wausa, Harold of Greeley, Colorado and Roy of Madison, Nebraska. One brother, Sheldon of Grinnell, Iowa and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Goodrow of Port Stanley, Washington.
