Korth ====================================================================== LEONARD DAWSON The death of Leonard Dawson better known as “Pete” Dawson was a surprise to his friends at Magnet. He passed away January 2 at Nicholas Senn Hospital at Omaha. Last September he left Magnet to live with his daughter in Omaha and was taken ill. Leonard Dawson was born April 14, 1846 at Pierce, Illinois. In 1865 he was married to Sarah Speakman. Mr. Dawson had lived in the Magnet vicinity for 20 years as a farmer. For the past few years he lived with his son R.H. Dawson and his daughter Mrs. Ernest Halleen near Magnet. “Pete” Dawson was an industrious man, was popular as a citizen, a good neighbor, beloved by family and esteemed by all who knew him. Deceased leaves four children; R.H. Dawson and Mrs. Ernest Halleen at Magnet, Mrs. J.P. Hrischman of Grant, Neb., and Mrs. E.T. Crellin of Omaha. His wife died about eight years ago. Funeral services were held at the home of R.H. Dawson and at the M.E. Church where Rev. Illsley preached the sermon. A quartet sang several selections. Burial was made beside his wife in the Magnet Cemetery.
