Korth ====================================================================== GENEVA FURNESS Geneva Black Furness was born on January 12, 1882 to Samuel and Lucy (Tedro) Black in Henry County Iowa. The Black family moved to the Randolph Nebraska area and later moving to Magnet. Geneva married Melvin J. Furness the son of Frank Furness in 1911. Six children were born to this union, Dale, John, Mildred, Avis, Wanda and Darrell. John died of a strep throat infection in 1931 at the age of 17. During the 1930’s both drought and depression hit the farming communities very hard and in August of 1936 the Furness family moved to California. Melvin passed away July 17, 1952. Geneva passes away on February 21, 1965 at Los Angeles and her body was brought back to be buried next to her husband and son John in the Magnet Cemetery.
