Korth ====================================================================== MELVIN J. FURNESS Little Mel, the two-year-old son, of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Furness, died Thursday Feb 2, 1911 of Poliomyelitis. The little one was sick only about seven hours, the disease was very severe and nothing that medical skill or loving and tender hands had any tendency to alleviate the suffering of the afflicted one and to make the burden of the mother harder to bear, Mr. Furness was away at Omaha on business not knowing that the little one was even sick but on his return home in the evening he found that his little boy had passed away. After a short service at the house little Mel was laid to rest in the Magnet Cemetery.
