Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Wynot Tribune Nov. 12, 1914 Toll of the Automobile Accident near Hartington Kills one man and injures two others In the automobile accident southwest of Hartington last Monday just before noon F M Gillen lost his life and E J Holastrom and Harry Thompson were badly injured. They were driving a car and in turning a corner it is evident that one of the wheels encountered a chuck hole. The car turned turtle with the above result. Gillen was killed instantly and the other two rendered unconscious, all of them laying there until someone came along and picked them up, bringing them into town. Gillen is a prominent and wealthy farmer of this county, residing about fourteen miles southwest of Hartington. He formerly owned the Paragon mills and is well known in this vicinity. The other two men were residents of Wausa. According to one of the occupants, the car was traveling at a high rate of speed.
