Permission granted by Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Cedar County News, 01/25/1923 Pioneer Settler is Called Home Mrs. Elizabeth Hager, a resident of the county for about sixty years dies Mrs. Elizabeth Hager, a resident of Cedar county for about sixty years passed away last Sunday afternoon at the home of her son, Frank Hager, east of Bow Valley where she had made her home for a number of years. Mrs. Hager was born in Germany coming to America when about 17 years of age. She settled with her parents in Michigan, where she was married to Frank Hager. After the death of their first son in Michigan the family moved to Cedar county having resided here ever since. Mr. Hager died several years ago. Mrs. Hager would have attained her eightieth birthday on May 10 next . Surviving are four sons, all well known residents of Cedar Couth, Conrad, John, Frank, and Joseph, and two daughters, Mrs. Harry Fernholz, of Wessington, SD and Mrs. Henry Kruse, of Bow Valley. The funeral was held on Wednesday morning, Rev. A Birnbach conducting the services at St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Bow Valley, of which Mrs. Hager had been a devout member for almost since it was founded the funeral was attended by a large number of pioneer residents who came to pay their last tribute respect to the deceased. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.
