ELMER HENRICKSON

Elmer (Chick) Henrickson, 36, well known Magnet citizen died at 4:30 Sunday
morning, July 19 in a Sioux City hospital, from complications following an
operation for appendicitis. Mr. Henrickson was first taken ill Monday
afternoon while at his work on the section at Randolph, but thought the heat
and drinking too much water was the cause of his ill feeling. Feeling much
better he played kittenball with the Magnet team at Wausa that evening but
after three innings he had to relinquish his place in the game. Tuesday night
he became severely ill and on advice of his physician was taken to Sioux City
at 11:30 at night and an emergency operation was performed at 1:30 Wednesday
morning.

Mr. Henrickson rallied from the ordeal of the operation and was thought to be
doing nicely when complications set in suddenly and Mr. Henrickson died within
a few hours thereafter.

Elmer Floyd was born November 17, 1899, in Cedar County on a farm 11 miles
northeast of Magnet. When three years old he moved with his parent to Magnet
and made his home there since that time, except for about a year in Randolph.
On June 22, 1921, he was united in marriage to Ethel Bloomquist at Wayne, and
to this union six children were born. The Henrickson family has been doubly
bereaved, the father Henry Henrickson, having died on June 26.

At the age of 16, Elmer began work for the M & O on the section and has for 20
years been a reliable and faithful employee. For a short time he was section
boss at Magnet. His untimely death came as a terrible shock to his family.
