Korth ====================================================================== WAYNE “KEITH” LACKAS Funeral services for Wayne “Keith” Lackas, 72, of Magnet were held Monday afternoon, April 6, at the United Methodist Church in Wausa. Internment was in the Magnet Cemetery. Mr. Lackas passed away April 3, 1998 at St. Luke’s hospital in Sioux City, IA. Wayne Keith Lackas, son of Jake and Sadie (Darnell) Lackas, was born March 23, 1926, at Randolph. He attended rural school and graduated from Randolph High School. He worked at a serum plant in Omaha for a year before returning to Randolph, where he worked for Tony Backer. On December 16, 1944 he married Darlene Koeppe. He entered the U.S. Army in December 1944 and after his discharge he was engaged in farming for 12 years. In 1959 he purchased a trucking business from Earl Tilton and operated it until 1991 when he retired following an accident. Keith was a member of the V.F.W. 5824 of Wausa and the Magnet Volunteer Fire Department serving as chief for several years. Survivors include his wife Darlene; sons and their spouses, Steve and Vivian Lackas of Wausa and Randy and Debbie Lackas of Norfolk; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a sister Violet Miller of Magnet and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son Monty, his parents and two brothers.
