Korth ====================================================================== HAZEL LAMBING Graveside rites will be at the Magnet Cemetery for Hazel M. Lambing, 91, Sioux City, who died Tuesday February 19, 2002 at a Sioux City care center. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday February 22, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. The daughter of Harvey and Mirtise (Hendricks) Slagle was born September 5, 1910. She grew up in Magnet and graduated from Magnet High School. She received a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College. She married Lester Lambing on March 20, 1936 in Vermillion. The couple farmed before moving to Randolph in 1949. They owned and operated H&L Service Station in Randolph until 1969. She began teaching in 1964 in rural Nebraska schools for 20 years. After retiring she worked as a substitute teacher in Sioux City for several years. She had been a resident of Casa de Paz Nursing and Rehab Center for the past three years. Mrs. Lambing was a softball pitcher until she was more than 70 years old. She was a member of the Senior Center, played in its band and was involved with bowling. Survivors include three sons and their wives, James and Creola, Allan and Judy all of Sioux City and Larry and Lynne of Omaha, 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
