Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== 9-27-1923 Cedar County News Old Time Resident of the County Dies Mrs. Marthy Milliron, Pioneer of St. James Dies in Oklahoma Mrs. Marthy Milliron, an early pioneer of the St. James community, died on September 14, at the home of her daughter in Perry, Oklahoma, according to word received last week by her sister Mrs. J.H. Eby, old age being the case of her death. Mr. and Mrs. Milliron will be remembered by the old pioneers of the county as being among those who settled near St. James on a homestead in 1868 or 1869. They remained in Cedar county until the grasshopper raid in 1872 – 1873, when they moved to Missouri, and then to Oklahoma, where Mr. Milliron died about twenty years ago. Since that time Mrs. Milliron has made her home with her children. She was 85 years old at the time of her death. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. M. Treadway of Perry, Oklahoma at whose home she died, and Mrs. G. Beaty of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one son William, of Perry Oklahoma and three sisters, Mrs. Jenny Milliron of Abilene, Kansas, Mrs. J.B. Greenwood of Emerson, NE, and Mrs. J.H. Eby of Hartington.
