Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== July 20, 1916 Cedar County News Boy Drowns in Creek Frank Mormann, one of the best known young men near Menominee, was drowned last Friday evening in Antelope creek a short distance from the spot where his father was accidently killed ten years ago. Accompanied by his younger brother, Louis, aged about 11 and his cousin, Louis Habermann, aged about 14, Frank started out to bath in Antelope creek, which runs through his mother’s farm. On account of the warm weather the water was quite low and the boys waded down some distance. Suddenly Frank stepped into a deep hole and sank from sight. He came to the surface and made frantic efforts to reach the creek bank but as he could not swim his efforts served only to use up his energy and he soon sank the second time. The younger boys started for help, but when they returned he had again sank in the pool. Rescuers soon secured the body and every effort was made to resuscitate it without avail. It was removed to his home. The funeral was held from the Menominee Catholic Church at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Father Hundt, officiating. The service was attended by many from all over the northwest corner of the county by whom the young man was well known. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Anton Hanger, two brothers, Louis, and Henry, and one sister Mary. Just 10 years ago the young man’s father lost his life a short distance from the pool in which the young man met death. The elder Mr. Mormann was after wild ducks which were resting along the creek and in crawling through a fence his shot-gun was accidently discharged, the accident resulting in death.
