Korth ====================================================================== ROBERT NELSON Marine Pfc. Robert W. Nelson, 18, was killed in action Thursday July 27 in Quang TRI Providence, Viet Nam, his parents received word Wednesday afternoon, August 2. Pfc. Nelson joined the U.S. Marines on reserve in June of 1966 and entered active duty in October of 1966. He left the states for overseas duty in early summer of 1967 and was in Okinawa a short time before going to Viet Nam. He was in communications work with the Fourth Marines. Funeral services for Robert were held Monday afternoon August 7, at the First Methodist Church in Magnet. Internment was in the Magnet Cemetery with the Marine Recruiting Service of Omaha and Sioux City provided Marines for the Firing Squad, Honor Guard and pallbearers for the Military Service. Robert Warren Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Nelson was born August 4, 1958 at Osmond. He attended school in Magnet for three years and rural schools before entering high school in Randolph. He was a 1966 graduate of Randolph High School where he was active in FFA and participated in track and football. He was baptized into the Chritain Faith and was a professed Christian. Survivors include his parents, seven brothers and sisters, Connie, Barbara, Kathy, David, Roger, Jolene, and Randy all at home, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Long of Magnet. He was preceded in death by a sister Bonnie who died in infancy.
