Noecker dead Pioneer Resident of county came to county just 50 years ago this week Within a few days of a half century from the day she came to Cedar county, Mrs. Josephine Noecker, one of the oldest women in the county, passed away at the home of her son John Noecker, east of Bow Valley, with whom she made her home for a number of years. Mrs. Noecker was born in Selkentrop, Westphalia Germany on Feb. 9th, 1824. Together with her husband she left there August 10, 1871, and came to America, setting at old St. James, the first settlement in the new territory, where they arrived on Sept. 15th, just 50 years ago today. Mentally and physically, she was well equipped for the pioneer life and she was an influential figure during the early days of the development of the county. Mrs. Noecker was the mother of seven children, two of whom died in infancy. The five still living are well known residents of the county, being John Noecker, Mrs. Henry Wortman, Mrs. Fred Peitz, Mrs Frank thoene, and Mrs. John Ramiel. There are 35 living grandchildren, and 31 living great grand children. The funeral was held Monday morning from St. Peters and Paul Church, Bow Valley. Interment being made in the Bow Valley Cemetery.
