Korth ====================================================================== SEVAL OLSEN The death of Seval Olsen, a young farmer living one mile east of Magnet on Wednesday the 12,th cast a gloom over the community as Mr. Olsen was highly esteemed as a neighbor and a friend. Although it was known that he was seriously ill, no one knew that the end was so near at hand. A complication of disease had been slowly undermining his health and several months ago he went to the home of his parents at Nemo, SD, hoping the mountain air would bring relief. He however, kept failing and about a month before his death, was taken to a hospital in Deadwood. Here his wife was at his bedside to help relieve his suffering. Realizing that his days were numbered, he wished to be taken home and on the 11th accompanied by a nurse, Mrs. Olsen started for Magnet with her husband. When the party reached Norfolk, Mr. Olsen, who had lain unconscious for many hours, was rushed to a hospital where he passed away at about 3:30 p.m. of the 12th. Funeral services were held on the Saturday afternoon from the family home and at 2 o’clock at the M.E. Church. Of the large crowd of friends and neighbors that gathered to attend the services, only a few were able to get inside the church which spoke of the esteem held for the deceased. Seval Olsen was born at Blair, Neb., September 28, 1889. He came to Magnet in 1911 and was married to Miss Maree Jones on January 15, 1915. To this union were born two children, Georgia Dora age 12 and Richard Lyle, age 10 who with their mother, mourn the passing of a loving father. He had lived in this community since coming here with the exception of a short time spent at Hubbard.
