Permission granted by Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News Hartington Herald is no longer in print. ====================================================================== Anna Peitz, 88 Dies Sunday Published in: Hartington Herald 10-30-1952 Rites Wednesday at Bow Valley Wynot – Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Peitz, 88, who died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Casper Schulte in wynot, after being an invalid for more than two years, were held from SS. Peter and Paul Church in Bow Valley Wednesday morning. Rev. A.S. Kluthe celebrated the funeral mass, assisted by Rev. Edward Hunkler of Wynot and Rev. Godfrey Meiergerd of St. James. Burial was made in the parish cemetery under the direction of Wintz Mortuary. Pallbearers were six grandsons; Wendell Schulte, Tony Leise and Ferdinand Bruening all of Wynot; Clarence and Billy Peitz and Clarence Aden of Colome, SD. Mrs. Peitz was born in Germany July 8, 1864, the daughter of John and Josephine Noecker. She came to the United States when she was six years old, and moved directly to Bow Valley community where she lived for 82 years. She was married to Fred Peitz July 1, 1884, at Bow Valley, They farmed near there for many years. Mr. Peitz died many years ago. During her early married life she and three sisters lived on farm close together and later when they moved into Bow Valley the four sisters lived within a block of each other for twenty years. One of the sisters, Mrs. Theresa Wortman, died last January. Mrs. Peitz watched the growth and progress of Cedar county from the days of the covered wagon, along through the years up to the present time of modern living. She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Joe (Theresa) Bruening, Mrs. John (Bernadine) Leise, Mrs. Casper (Lucy) Schulte, Cecelia and Frances all of Wynot. Mrs. George (Rose) and Mrs. Otto (Elizabeth) Schulte of Colume, SD, and two sisters, Mrs. Bernadine Rameil , and Mrs. Lizzie Thoene of Bow Valley. One brother John Noecker, Jr. died in 1838, and son Leo died in 1951. There are also 32 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
