Permission granted by Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Wynot Tribune Jan. 28, 1910 Samuel Penticoff (civil war soldier) Died at his residence in St. James, Friday evening, January 21, 1910, Samuel Penticoff aged 73 years, 8 months and 21 days. Deceased had been ill for some weeks with heart trouble and dropsy an dhis death was not unexpected. Samuel Penticoff was born in Pennsylvania, removing from there to Illnois. At the breaking out of the war of the rebellion he enlisted in the 92nd Illnois regiment, serving his country faithfully for three years. In 1870 he came to Cedar County where he since has resided. Mr. Penticoff was united in marriage to Joanna Lively in 1865, and to this union four children were born , of whom two survive him. After the death of his first wife he was married to Mary Ann Brewer in 1883 and to this union six children were born, five of whom are still living. He has three sisters and three brothers who are still living. The funeral service was conducted from the Methodist church in Wynot, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, by the pastor, Rev. Helm. Interment was had in the Bow Valley Cemetery (Wynot Cemetery) near this place. The Tribune joins in extending condolence to the bereaved.
