Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Wynot Tribune 3-23-1916 Mrs. Josephine Peters Mrs. Josephine Peters was born in Germany in 1830, and passed away at her home in Cedar county, Monday, March 13, 1916, at the age of 86 years. Mrs. Peters was the widow of the late Michael Peters, and came to Cedar county in 1864 and has resided here since that time. For eleven years prior to her death of her husband in 1912, she was a resident of Hartington. Since that time she has made her home with her son Frank northwest of Crofton. She was mother of seven children, three of whom are dead. The living children are two sons, John and Frank and two daughters, Mrs. Leo Schrempp and Mr.s Henry Noecker. One of her children died in infancy and the others who are dead were Mrs. Jos. Schrempp and Mrs. Chris Speth. She is also survived by two brothers, Herman Koch of this county and Bruno Koch of Dyersville, Ia., and two sisters, Mrs. Suing and Mrs. Klug. The funeral services were held from the Catholic Church in St. Helena Wednesday morning of last week, and was attended by a large concourse of old friends. The late Mrs. Peters, as one of the pioneers of the county, was greatly loved and respected by all who knew her and she was a devout Christian woman.
