ELMER PRESTON

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church in 
Magnet for Elmer Preston, 92, Magnet’s oldest resident, who was found 
dead at his home December 18. Frank Von Rentzell who looked after the 
needs of Mr. Preston, found him dead when he went to the Preston home.

Elmer Arnold Preston was born August 22, 1859 at Storm Lake, IA and moved 
with his parents to Bancroft , where they lived until moving to a farm near 
McLean in 1892. His father died while they lived on that farm and in 1908 he 
and his mother moved to Magnet. His mother died in 1924. He had never married.

Mr. Preston is survived by a brother, Burt and a niece Eunice Preston, both 
of Lincoln. Other nieces and nephews surviving, who were former Magnet 
residents are Lee Moore of Grand Junction, CO, Mrs. Jack Buchanan,  Catophia, 
Kans.; Ellis Preston, Abilene, Texas, Mrs. Bertha Snell, Los Angeles, Calif. 
Two brothers, Del and Ode and two sisters, Mrs. J.C. Moore and Mrs. Case 
preceded him in death.
