Korth ====================================================================== PHEBY ANN PRESTON Death, on Saturday afternoon closed a long and eventful chapter of life for Mrs. Pheby Preston, Magnet’s oldest resident. Mrs. Preston made her home with her son, E.A. Preston. During her latter years she enjoyed fair health until about three weeks ago when she was stricken with a paralytic stroke which was the direct cause of death. Funeral services were conducted from the M.E. Church on Monday afternoon, Rev. E.L. Corbit preaching the funeral sermon. Burial was made in the local cemetery beside the remains of her husband who preceded her in death 15 years ago. Pheby Ann Preston was born in Allegheny County, N.Y. on May 24, 1833 and died at her home in Magnet, Nebraska on December 15, 1923, having attained the ripe old age of 90 years, 6 months and 21 days. In 1853, she moved to Montello, Wis., and on August 1 of that year she was united in marriage to Nelson Preston. Later the family resided in Missouri, moving from there to Cedar County, Nebraska, in the year 1880. Eight children were born to this union, four preceding their mother to the great beyond. The remaining to mourn her departure are; Mrs. J.C. Moore, Butler, Mo., Mrs. W.T. Case, Antioch, Nebr., B.F. Preston, Lincoln Nebr. and E.A. Preston, Magnet, Nebr. Grandmother Preston during her life was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
