Permission granted by Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Cedar County News, 12/22/1965 Theodore Rieken rites were held at Wynot Funeral services for Theodore Rieken , 83 of Wynot were held Saturday morning, December 18 at Sacred heart Catholic Chruch in Wynot. Rev. George Saxon officiated at the 10:00 am requierm high mass. Interment was in the parish cemetery, under the direction of the Smith Wintz funeral home. Pallbearers were Otto Arens, Wendell Schulte, Ervin Koch, Urban Pinkelman, Jerome Promes and Frank Promes. Mr. Rieken was born October 9, 1882 in the thow of Diven, Holland. He came to the United States in 1903 and settled at Shelby, Nebr. After residing there for 8 years he moved to Buffalo county. He married Cecilia Klein October 5, 1909. They moved to Wynot in 1920 an d had resided there since then. Mr. Rieken died at the Coleridge Nursing Home December 15, following a long illness. Survivors include his wife, Cecilia; 3 sons – Bernard Rieken of Newton, Ia., Gerhard Rieken of Bellevue, and Joseph Rieken of Way; 3 daughters – Mrs. Henry (Marie) Hensen, of Sloan, IA., Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Mathers of Bellevue, and Mrs. Hugo (Agnes) Solko of Lake Andes, SD; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Egging of Sidney, and a brother Bernard Rieken of Dalton; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchlldren. A daughter and a son preceded him in death.
