News July 6, 1916 Hildebrand Rolfes passed away July 1 Hildebrand Rolfes who resided in Hartington for the past 14 years, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D.J. Dyson, last Saturday after being an invalid for two years suffering from paralysis. Mr. Rolfes was born in Germany in 1838 and emigrated to this country in 1856, settling in Illinois. He was married in 1867 to Johannah Schmidt. They moved to Hastings, in 1882. Mrs. Rolfes died November 9, last year, since which time Mr. Rolfes has made his home with his daughter, Mr.Rolfes was veteran of the civil war, serving over three and one-half years. The funeral was held from the Norwegian Lutheran church Monday afternoon, Rev. Nervig officiating. Interment was made in the Hartington Cemetery. Mr. Rolfes is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dyson and Mrs. Jos. Bowers and three sons, Herman, Charles and Henry Rolfes, and by 20 grandchildren.
