Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS – Jan. 24, 1924 Mrs. Jacob Schieffer Passes in Hospital Pioneer resident of Cedar County Succumbs to a Long Illness Following an illness of seven weeks, Mrs. Jacob. J. Schieffer, who for many years has been a resident of Cedar county, passed away at the Hartington Hospital early last Monday morning. Mrs. Schieffer has lived in the Menominee and Constance communities since 1881, and during her residence in the county she made countless friends because of her kind-heartedness and her willingness to help those who were in distress. She had an unusually fine personality, which will be greatly missed. She was born in Hanover, Germany, 61 years ago, coming to America in 1881, when she made her home in Cedar county. In 1884 she was married to Mr. Schieffer at Menominee, Rev. Father Baumgarten performing the ceremony. Her husband and five sons being Frank, John, Joseph, William and Frederick all residing near the old homestead near Constance. Funeral services were held this morning from Constance Catholic Church and were in charge of Rev. Father Hundt.
