She had been sick for about a year and this fall was apparently improving when a relapse set in and medical skill could not save her life. Her disease was “pernicious anaemia” a malady that attacks the red corpuscles of the blood and greatly diminishes their number, thus weakening the power of the blood to nourish the body. Janekan Haarbrink was born in Utrecht, Holland, August 19, 1858. She was united in marriage to August Sherer at Lewis, Iowa, March 18, 1896. To this union was born three children, one dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two children and five stepchildren, also two brothers and two sisters. The funeral services were held at Magnet.
