Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS March 20, 1924 Mrs. Jacob Soehner Gets Last Summons Widely Known Resident Here had Been Ill for A long Time with Cancer Mrs. Jacob Soehner formerly a very widely known resident of Cedar county passed away early Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Will Korff, death being due to a cancer of the stomach, with which she had been a sufferer for more than two years. Mrs. Soehner was born January 25, 1855 in Germany, where she grew to womanhood, her maiden name being Christina Meyer. She was married there to Jacob Soehner and accompanied him to American and Cedar County during the early days of the county. Mr. Soehner was killed by the evening passenger train about a mile south of town about twenty years ago. Those surviving are Fred Soehner, who resides on the old home place south of town, Mrs. Peter Brockman, Mrs. Carl Steffan, Jr., and Mrs. Korff. Mrs. Soehner was early confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a devout member of the German Lutheran congregation. The funeral service will be held this afternoon from the Evangelical Lutheran church. In charge of Rev. Melkert, who is caring for the needs of the Lawn Ridge parish during absences on account of illness of Rev. Fleischmann.
