Korth ====================================================================== JOHANNA SOOST Death in a rather sudden manner closed the life chapter of Mrs. (Grandma) Johanna Soost. Mrs. Soost who lived alone in her little home in the north part of town, was found unconscious in her garden about 4:30 Sunday afternoon by her son Henry of Randolph, who drove up to pay his mother a visit. He looked for his mother about the house and failing to see her stepped into the yard where he found her lying in the garden, where she had loved to work among the flowers and vegetables. He carried her into the house and called a doctor and other members of the family, but before the doctor arrived she had passed to the great beyond. Grandmother Soost, passed her 80th birthday in early spring. With the exception of a serious attack of illness shortly before her 80th birthday from which she had recovered, being able to walk to town to do her shopping and attend to her household duties she has enjoyed the best of health being a very rigged woman for her age. She wished to live alone occupying herself in caring for her chickens and tending her flowers. Mrs. Soost was born in Holstein, Germany, March 21, 1846 and came to America 45 years ago. She was 80 years, 2 months and 16 days of age and had lived in Magnet nearly 21 years. Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon. A son Fred of Los Angeles is on his way to attend his mother’s funeral. Another son Wm. Soost lives in Norfolk.
