Korth ====================================================================== OTTO SWANSON Otto S. Swanson, the hardware man at Magnet, and well known in this part of the county, died last Saturday at the Samaritan Hospital in Sioux City. He was operated on there the previous Monday for appendicitis, but did not improve satisfactorily. The cause of death was given as paralysis of the bowels. Otto S. Swanson was born at Orion, Henry County, Illinois August 12, 1883 and was 33 years of age. With his parents he came to Wakefield in 1885 and at 15 years was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran Church. He came to Magnet in 1903 and worked as clerk and later as manager of the hardware business in which he became part owner. He was married to Irene Soost, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Soost of Magnet in September 1910. Besides his wife, he also leaves three brothers and two sisters. Deceased was a splendid young man and had a host of friends. He was a good businessman of splendid habits, upright and honorable and well liked. He was a Mason and had attained the 18th degree, being a member of Tangier Temple of the Mystic Shrine of Omaha. He was also an Odd Fellow, A Past Grand of Magnet lodge and last year was District Deputy Grand Master. He was also a member of the Highlanders and Rebekahs. The funeral was held at Magnet on Monday afternoon, a service in which the Masons took part. It was conducted at the house and the funeral sermon was preached in the M.E. Church.
