Korth ====================================================================== RUTH WESTADT Memorial Services for Ruth Westadt, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21 at the Methodist Church in Wausa. She died Wednesday February 18, 2004 at Hillcrest Health Plaza in Bellevue. The daughter of James and Ollie (Stober) Bayne was born December 30, 1909, on a farm in the Pearl Creek area near Coleridge. She attended Pearl Creek School and graduated from Coleridge High School in 1928. She attended Wayne State College and taught rural school. She married Ralph “Chunk” Westadt on May 16, 1933 at the Methodist parsonage in Randolph. The couple lived in the Pearl Creek area for five years and moved to a farm near Magnet. They purchased a farm east of Magnet in 1946. In 1981, they retired and moved to Wausa. Mrs. Westadt was a member of an extension club for more than 30 years. She was also a 4-H leader for several years. She was also a member of Magnet Christian Church and King’s Daughters. Her husband died in 1991 and she lived in Papillion with her daughter during the winter. Survivors include three children, Ralph of Aurora, CO; Elaine Schreiber and her husband Jim of LaVista and Loraine Stanfield of Papillion; one sister, Helen Bell of Cottonwood; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, her husband, a daughter-in-law and a great-grandson.
