May 1, 1913 86th birthday anniversary Uncle Billy Dickinson enjoys family reunion to celebrate the occasion The eighty-sixth birthday anniversary of William L. Dickinson was very happily observed at the home in St. James on Weds. April 23rd. The extremely inclement weather prevented a large number of the old neighbors and friends from being present, but the following relatives were there to do fitting honor to the notable occasion: Dr. L.E. Dickinson, wife and baby of Rockville, NE, Byron E. Townsend and W.P. Hill and wife of Randolph, Mrs. Thomas Smith and daughter Eslie of Coleridge, Mrs. J.C. Dawson and Willie Smith of Vermillion, SD., and Mrs. A.D. Townsend of Ponca. Mr. Dickinson although at this ripe old age, is still comparatively hale and hearty and he and his estimable wife were able to fully enjoy the occasion and do full justice as host and hostess. A very sumptious turkey dinner was served and fully enjoyed and the day spent in a jolly manner. Uncle "Billy" Dickinson has been a resident of Cedar county for forty-seven years and is one of only a few of the old guard remaining that blazed the path for the comforts we are enjoying today. He tells many interesting stories and reminiscences of the pioneer days in Cedar co.
