Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== CEDAR COUNTY NEWS – 10-11-1916 Uhing - Promes Marriage On Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock occurred the marriage of Mr. Herman Uhing and Miss Anna Promes, Rev. A Biernbach officiation. The bride was attended by Miss Anna Didam of Wynot and the broom by Joseph Promes, brother of the bride. The bridal gown was of white silk messaline with a tunic of silk embroidered net lace with cut bead trimming and with satin slippers an veil. The bridesmaid wore accordian plaited crepe de chine. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the brides mother, who gave a reception to the largenumber of relative and friends attending. Many beautiful gifts were presented. Mr. and Mrs. Promes held a wedding dance in the evening was an enjoyable affair. Herman Uhing is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Uhing now living in Missouri and his bride is the daughter of Mrs. Anna Promes, one of Cedar countys highly respected and early pioneers. Both the contracting parties were reared in Cedar county and have many, many friends who extend best wishes. They will commence housekeeping on the groom’s farm near the old Uhing homestead.
