The house was on what is known as the old Kuehn place between Crofton and Yankton, and it was known as the largest and best farm house in the Beaver Creek community. The building had about 10 or 12 rooms. The fire broke out at about 8 0’clcok in the evening, and nothing could be done to check it. Phone girls at Crofton also had a fire scare at 8:30 0’clock Tuesday morning, when defective insulation in the phone office started a fire. The situation was a serious one for a few moments, but the girls kept their wits and it a short time the excitement was over, very little damage being done.
