Only the horses were saved, the harness, feed, poultry and small tools being destroyed. The loss on the building is estimated as close to $1200 and on the contents about $600. The building was owned by Herman Wuebben but the personal property was owned by son Bernard Wuebben, who farms the place and with whom he makes his home. The elder Mr. Wuebben was roused by a noise which he thot was an automobile and wondered why a car should be operated there at that hour. Becoming fully awakened he noticed the light from the flames in the barn about 125 feet away. Neighbors responded to the call for help and as considerable water was available the fire was kept most in the one structure, although the side of another barn was badly burned. The property was insured in the Cedar County Farmers Mutual Co.
