KOCH, LIFELONG CEDAR COUNTY RESIDENT, MOVES TO AINSWORTH Wynot - Leonard Koch, lifelong resident of this vicinty, will move with his family the latter part of this month to a large ranch north of Ainstworth in Keyapaha County. Mr. Koch has leased a 2,600 acre ranch, known as the Woods ranch, located about 15 miles north of Ainsworth and about eight miles southwest of Springview. They will be one and one half miles from their post office which will be Meadville and one half mile from the school house which is located on the ranch. There are three complete sets of buildings on the ranch and the house which the Koch family will occupy is a large modern home. There are 500 acres of farm land. Mr. Koch says it is all level and good clay soil, buffalo grass pasture and plenty of pine and oak timber on the place. It is situated along the Niobrara river bottom. Mr. Koch’s nephew, Herman Koch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Koch will go with them and help with farming while Mr. Koch will devote most of his time to stock raising. His hobby is fine horses and he says that all his life his greatest desire has been to have a large western ranch and in this new venture Mr. Koch has visions of his lifelong dream coming true. He has always been a farmer and for two seasons some years ago he, with a partner Martin Collins, owned and conducted a rodeo. In the outfit were twelve bucking horses and one buffalo. They put on rodeos at surrounding towns including Ponca, Laurel, West Point and at Homewood Park. Having lived in this vicinity for over 50 years entitles Mr. Koch to membership in the Golden Circle of Cedar County Pioneers. He was born at Brooky Bottom April 7, 1885 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koch early pioneers of this secton. He grew to young manhood on his fathers farm where he had some exciting times when the old Missouri River would go on a rampage and flood the bottom land. Mr and Mrs. Koch were married Jan. 31, 1911. Mrs. Koch is the former Katherine Pfister of Newcastle. They started housekeeping on the farm one mile south of Wynot where they have resided since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Koch have three daughters. Also one granddaughter. They are Mrs. Otto Feilmeier of Ashland, Velma and Yvonne, all graduates of Wynot High School. Velma has been employed at the Wynot Post office the past year but has quit to go with her parents to their new home. Yvonne is attending Wayne State College. The three daughters are all musically talented and formerly formed a dance orchestra composed of violin, drums and piano. Velma is also organist at Sacred Heart Chruch. Mrs. Koch is much interested in flowers and house plants as a diversion from her housework and has among her collection an orange plant with 12 oranges on it. Their many friends will wish Mr. and Mrs. Koch and family success in their new home.
