This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== WYNOT TRIBUNE APRIL 1, 1943 STORY ABOUT PIONEERS RESULTS IN REQUEST FOR INFORMATION WYNOT - Shortly after a story about Wynot ladies in the 80's was printed recently, Miss Emma Strenzke, one of the ladies mentioned in the story, received a letter from a Miss Grace Jordan of Huron, SD., who had read the story and was interested in local history as her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jordon, had lived near here in the early days. She had asked about old St. James and about several of the early residents of whom she had heard her parents speak. The Peter Jordans according to Miss Jordan's letter, first came to this section about 1861 or 62. They lived on the Nebraska side of the river opposite Vermillion. Later they lived in a log cabin near where the Wiseman children were massacred and then later moved east of Vermillion, where Miss Jordan was born. She says she remembers her mother speaking of the Wiseman massacre and of the Brooky Bottom family. Miss Strenzke sent a letter to Miss Jordan giving her as much information as possible about early local history.
