Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt grew up in this vicinity and have a kindly feeling for the old home town. Their parents were early settlers here. Mrs. Schmidt is the former Lillian Buker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Buker. She has a sister buried in this cemetery. Mr. Schmidt's father was an early day merchant at St. James and in Wynot. The cemetery association and all who have loved ones buried here are very appreciative of this generous gift which will make some long desired improvements possible. Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt sent the donation to an aunt, Mrs. Edith Klopping to be turned over to the cemetery association. The Schmidts moved from here many years ago to California. Included in proposed plans are a new road to the cemetery, which will eliminate the steep hill, a new gate and many other improvements.
