Stevens and Vernon P. Meyer, all of Hartington; Ervin D. Yonke and William M. Kremer, both of Crofton; and Arnold P. Tramp of Yankton Star route . . . Jack Mirr, manager of the J.M. McDonald Company store here, resigned . . . Phyliis McCoy and Vernon Neuhalfen were united in marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic church . . .Joe Schumacher, jr., was awarded the blue ribbon premium on Marion seed oats in the certified seed growers division at the Nebraska State Fair . . . The Hartington Cedars battled their way into the Elkhorn Valley league playoff finals by downing the Osmond Tigers . . . Earline Peck and Jim Nelson won Junior gold championships. Forty Years Ago The picnic at Wynot, in celebration of the laying of the corner stone of the new Catholic church was well attended . . . A surprise party was given in honor of Willard Guy's birthday. About fifty were present . . . A prairie fire started Sunday afternoon west of the meridian line, burning four stacks of hay for Peter Schaefer . . . The county commissioners are putting in a new steel bridge on the little creek down by T.R. Barker's place . . . M.C. Goeller resigned his position with E.F. Morris last week and has accepted a position with the Valentine machinery company . . . Peter Henrichson has been in Sioux City at the hosptial the past week, blood poison having set in his hand from a blister . . . Miss Lila Smith went to Sioux City where she has a position teaching in the schools this year . . .
