The old calendar had served as a cover for the marriage license of his parents, issued the same year. The marriage license had been rolled in the calendar and has been in the Ferber famiy two generations. This antique calendar was put out in 1878 by Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance company and with an office in Chicago. The company was instituted in 1836. The printing and figures of the calendar are very bright legible and almost new looking. It is a single sheet of very heavy paper, 7 1/4 x 11 3/4 inches. One outstanding difference from our calendars today is that the days of the week run down or vertical. Each Sunday of the month runs across the top opposite from our present day calendars. At the top of the calendar is a world globe surrounded by legendary characters and below is the name of the company. At the bottom is given the amount of liabilities in the United States at that time, funds held by the United States trustees, fire surplus, and other items regarding to claims paid. Hand written in ink at the bottom is the name of G N Roberts, Yankton, SD.
