The Kaiser has abdicted and is now interned in Holland, a man without a country and a fugitive from his own people, whose hatred of him is even more intense than that entertained by other peoples. The Crown would not attempt to ascend the throne owing to the demand of the people for a republic. Several minor states have already revolted and established separate republics. There are over 2,000,000 American troops on the French front in addition to large numbers on the Italian Russian and Far Eastern fronts. They were taken over under the rush of war time necessity at the rate of about 300,000 a month. At the same rate it will require more than a year to return to them. Many of them will remain to police Germany and preserve order. Some will never return but the mere mention of their names will bring a rush of memories and a pride in their accomplishments that will over top all else. The whole world ceased all other activities Monday to celebrate the good news. In the quiet of the home many who had not been on their knees for months offered sincere prayers of thankfulness. Others gave vent to their enthusiasm my assisting in noisemaking, every possible mechanical help being secured to increase the racket.
