This file was contributed for use in the NEGenWeb Archives by Carol Tramp Permission granted by: Rob Dump, Editor, Cedar County News ====================================================================== Body Enroute Home - Cedar County News Sept. 1, 1921 Mrs. Christina Anderson is Advised that the body was shipped on Wednesday The body of Private Stanley Anderson, first Cedar County soldier to fall in the world war was shipped from Hoboken, NJ, on Wednesday, according to a telegram from the government to his mother, Mrs. Christina Anderson, residing about 10 miles east of Hartington. The bodies of a number of other Nebraska soldiers being returned from France were shipped at the same time. They are being brot in special cars as far as Omaha. While no definite arrangement has been made it is believed that the body will reach Hartington on Saturday. Arrangements for the funeral can not be completed until after the return of officers of the local post of the American Legion, who are expected back from the National Guard Encampment at noon today. A brief service will likely be held in town after which the body will be escorted to the Anderson home from where the funeral will start for Paragon Church where the final services will be held.
