It was named Ossawattomie after a village in Kansas that was burned by pro-slavery Missourians in 1856. There were 22 members on the charter, and they had a total of 74 members. The peak membership of 34 was in 1891. Note: Posts were closed when the last living member died. I have the GAR Post information on all the Wynot members. 13 were members of the Hartington Post and 2 were also members of Stoneman Post 116 in Ponca which disbanded in 1915. May have been the reason they joined the Hartington Post.
