My great grandfather was George Newton Thompson who settled in Custer Co. in 1882 along with his in-laws the Samuel Trout family (Samuel & Catherine(Roat) Trout who are buried in Merna, NE)
George Newton and Lovine (Trout) Thompson raised seven (7) children in Custer Co. Ferdinand, Florence Grace, Edward Franklin, Joseph Alvin (my grand-father) Cora Mildred, and Twins Charles and Harvey.
Have traced the Thompson family back to the 1500's into England. Several Thompsons graduated from Harvard and one had poetry published and is in the Boston Library.
