This school was located four miles south of Arnold . Early settlers named the Valley for the many Yucca plants growing there. The first school records I could fine were for the year 1886, however settlers were there in 1883 and there may have been a school then.
A.H. Needham taught the following pupils in a sod building in 1886:
Bertha Needham, LeRoy Needham, Myrtle Deardorf, Lonnie Bullock, Laura Deardorf, Bert Deardorf, Milly Marrs and Howard Blowers. A frame building was built in 1916. This building remained until it was torn down in the early 1960's.
Yucca Valley School became one of the largest country schools in the county.
