Rowland/New Hope Evangelical Chruch

In the Spring of 1882 R.B. Rowland came to Dawson County and took a homestead claim. He gave an acre of ground for the school house, the school was called lucerne Valley School. It was in this newly erected building that the Sunday School was organized by Rev. J.H. Holderman. A organized Church soon followed.
Some of the first families who attended this church were:
A.G. Andersons, the Applegates, Hansels, Meliuses and the Loves
In 1909 a frame Chruch was built on one acre of land donated by Ernest and Mary Love.
