Dawson County NEGenWeb Project

These cemetery indexes have been transcribed and submitted by volunteers who have taken the time to walk, index and transcribe the individual cemeteries. They all deserve a big Thank-You! I would like to give special credit to Vicky Stephens, the Lexington Genealogy Society and the Cozad Genealogy Club for their efforts in making sure that we can post as many of the Dawson County cemeteries as possible. The Cozad Genealogy Club has just sent the indexes for more cemeteries that we will be posting as quickly as possible. There are a few cemeteries that are not in Dawson County, but in adjacent counties near the Dawson county boundaries. Be sure to check the NEGenWeb Project site for those counties for more information.
A Dawson County Cemeteries and Burials Work Map was found in a copy of "D.A.R. Tombstone Inscriptions" done by the Bonneville Chapter of the D.A.R. in Dawson County, 1946-52. It is a rough map that shows locations for cemeteries and burials in the county. Some of these seem to be 'missing' today. It also has the stations that were located along the Oregon Trail on the south side of the Platte River.
