Dec 21, 1916 Letter from Beverly Haun Nissen about Dodge County SD#30 This picture was taken at School Dist #30 which was located 9 mies northeast of North Bend. Margurite Secovec was the teacher and I was in the 2nd grade. I think it was the spring of 1941. She taught all 8 grades from 1st to 8th. That year there were 24 of us. She contiued teaching in my 3rd grade year and was Margurite Keithly as she had married that sumer. My sisters Janet and Jennine were also in the picture. Jan was in the 5th & Jeannie in the 7th. All of us are wering knee-highs, so it must not have been very warm yet. The Playground equipment consisted of a swing, a trapeze, rings, and a teeter totter. Other then that we all played together much of the time. We played softball and many running games. This school was 1.5 miles away from our home and was very special to my family. My grandpa, joyhn Haun, was a student there and my dad, Ellwood Haun, went there, too. My mom, Myrtle Catherwood taught there when she met my dad at a neighborhood card party. My 3 sisters and I attended all 8 grades there, too. When I graduated from Schribner High School in 1952, that was my first teaching job. I taught there 6 years while I attended night classes and summer school to begin my college work. My sister, Barb, was my student for her 6th, 7th, & 8th years. From there I moved to the Fremont Schools.
