Isaiah Samuel Jurgens

Isaiah Samuel Jurgens was born at rest on Friday morning, October 17, 2003. He is survived by his parents Steve and Dawn Jurgens of Filley, Nebraska. Two brothers, Taylor Jurgens and Silas Jurgens and one sister, Callie Busboom all of Filley, Nebraska. Grandparents, Marvin and Ardyce Philippi of Blue Springs, Nebraska, Harold Jurgens of Adams, Nebraska and Leanna Jurgens of Lincoln, Nebraska. Great grandparents, Peter Jurgens of Filley, Nebraska and Lena Ideus of Beatrice, Nebraska.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Petersen officiating. There will be no public viewing. A register book will be available for signatures from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 19, 2003 at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska. A memorial has been established to the family with the Fox Funeral Home in charge. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.

Dora S. A. Leners

Dora S. A. Leners, 92 years of age, of Ashland, NE., formerly of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Ashland Care Center in Ashland, NE. Saturday morning, April 7, 2007. She was born on December 1, 1914 at Rural Republic County Kansas, near Byron, NE. to Friedrich W. and Wilhelmina M. (Kniep) Kuhlmann. She and John M. Leners were married on November 25, 1943 at Byron, NE. She worked at Storekraft Manufacturing in Beatrice during World War II, did housework for families in Byron, Deshler, and Beatrice, and did volunteer work later in life at the Martin Luther Home in Beatrice for 6 years. She was a life long farm housewife when they lived on a farm northwest of Filley, NE. until they moved into Beatrice in 1983. She moved to assisted living in Gretna, NE. in 2003, and later to Ashland, NE. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice and a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. Throughout her life, she was an avid gardener, enjoyed her flowers and enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She finished many quilts for area residents and made many charity quilts for the Holy Cross Church, and sewing projects for her family.

Survivors include 2 sons, Harvey Leners and wife JoAnn of Omaha, NE. and Marvin Leners and wife Carol of Lincoln, NE.; two grandchildren, Brian Leners and wife Renee of Omaha, and Stacy Leners of Lincoln; and two great grandsons, Zachery and Jeremy Leners of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents Friedrich W. and Wilhelmina M. (Kniep) Kuhlmann; husband John M. Leners (1987); one sister Ella D. W. Kruse; and one brother, Otto C. F. Kuhlmann.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice with Reverend Donald R. Legacie officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, R. Pickrell, NE. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 10-9:00 and until the time of the service on Wednesday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association and to the Ashland Hospice with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge.

Dorothy L. Busboom

Dorothy L. Busboom, 84 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at her home Tuesday morning, January 10, 2006. She was born on a farm near Pickrell, NE. on November 10, 1921 to Renken and Frederika (Rosenthal) Zimmerman. She was baptized on November 21, 1921 and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at the Zion Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. by Pastor J. B. Reents. She attended Wallman Country School, District 38. She and Jerry Busboom were married on February 17, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. by Reverend John G. Kitzelman. They lived on a farm near Filley, NE. for 23 years before moving into Beatrice in 1969. She had been employed at the Martin Luther Home in Beatrice, NE. for 8 years. She was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church, R. Pickrell, NE. where she taught Bible School, Junior Lutherans and Sunday School for 30 years. She currently is a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE. where she was a member of the Tabitha Circle and a member of the Gideon's International Auxiliary for 46 years. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, yard work, flowers, Bible studies, and family history. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Jerry; daughters Judy Fischer and her husband Randy and Janet Byars and her husband Dennis, all of Beatrice, NE.; grandchildren Paul Brinkman and wife Shannon of Lincoln, Jason Brinkman and wife Kelly of Peoria, IL., Mark Byars and wife Nichole of Omaha, NE., and Jonathan Byars of Lincoln, NE.; great grandchildren Justin and Ashley Brinkman, Joel and Caleb Brinkman, and Macy Byars; sister Emma Dorn of Beatrice, NE.; brothers Clarence Zimmerman of Beatrice, NE. and Ernest Zimmerman and wife Marilyn of Pickrell, NE.; sister in law Evelyn Zimmerman of Beatrice, NE.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Renken and Frederika (Rosenthal) Zimmerman; brother Arthur Zimmerman and sisters Minnie Wolken and Edith Jobman.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday January 13, 2006 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE. with Reverend David Kramer, Reverend Joann Kramer, and Reverend Richard Fruehling officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, R. Pickrell, NE. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. and at the church one hour preceding the service on Friday. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the St. John Lutheran Church and the Zion Cemetery Association with Arnold and Lois Buhr in charge.

Edwin C. Trauernicht

Edwin C. Trauernicht, 94 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Thursday morning, February 19, 2004. He was born on February 19, 1910 at rural Pickrell, Nebraska. He was married to Anna A. Parde on July 22, 1934 at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska and they lived and farmed northeast of Pickrell until they retired and moved to Beatrice in April of 1986. He was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska He was also a member of Aerie #531 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Beatrice, Nebraska. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include two sons, Walter Trauernicht and his wife Audrey of Beatrice, Nebraska and Robert Trauernicht and his wife Judy of Palmer, Tennessee. One daughter, Janet Dissmeyer and her husband Melvin of Adams, Nebraska. 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Rose Paben and Arlene Kelle and her husband Norbert all of Beatrice, Nebraska. Special friend, Emma Hofeling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garrelt and Anna Louise Zimmerman Trauernicht, his wife Anna who died on February 27, 1994, one daughter Gladys Huls Hagemeier, five brothers Herman, Willie, Alfred, John G., and Elmer Trauernicht, two sisters, Emma Wolken and Clara Fritzen and two sons-in-law, Leonard Huls and Don Hagemeier.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:15 A.M. in the basement of the church. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with LaVerne and Shirley Wolken in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice, Nebraska until 9:00 P.M. Donald L. DeBuhr

Donald L. DeBuhr, 72 years of age of Beatrice, Nebraska died from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Blue Springs, Nebraska on Friday evening, April 23, 2004. He was born May 6, 1931 at rural Adams, Nebraska and attended Olney Country School. He married Marie Oltman on September 29, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska and they lived and farmed on the home place until moving to Beatrice in 1994. He also drove a maintainer for Hooker Township for forty-three years. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska and served on the church council, building committee, park board and had sung in the Men's Choir. He served on the Olney School board and was a member of Aerie #531 Fraternal Order of Eagles of Beatrice, Nebraska. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sporting and school activities and had also coached baseball for YRI.

Survivors include his wife Marie DeBuhr of Beatrice, Nebraska. Three daughters, LaDonna VanEngen and her husband Mervin of Lincoln, Nebraska, Patricia Busboom and her husband Wayne and Cynthia Pittman all of Beatrice, Nebraska. One son Donovan DeBuhr of Beatrice, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One sister Angeline Oltman of Beatrice, Nebraska. Four sisters-in-law Nelvadeen DeBuhr Schwab, Lena Ideus, Eleanor Scheetz and Laveda Oltman and two brothers-in-law John Jurgens and Edward Oltman and his wife Dorothy. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jurgen and Grace Miller DeBuhr, great-granddaughter Taylor Kleier, two brothers Clarence and Delbert DeBuhr and brothers-in-law Lenhart Oltman, Menne Ideus, Reinder Oltman, Dick Oltman, William Scheetz, and sisters-in-law Violet Oltman and Helen Jurgens.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Allen and Pastor Paul Petersen officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday morning in the Parish Hall of the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice with Wilfred Ideus and Raymond Hogelucht in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until 5:30 P.M. Grace R. Duitsman

Grace R. Duitsman, 82 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska died at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Care Center on Thursday morning, April 8, 2004. She was born on March 15, 1922 at Adams, Nebraska. She was married to Heye Duitsman on March 8, 1947 at Marysville, Kansas and they lived and farmed southeast of Beatrice until she moved to Beatrice in 1989. She worked in the kitchen at the Lutheran Hospital and the Good Samaritan Center until her retirement. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska and was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice, Nebraska. She enjoyed music, cooking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Arthur Duitsman and his wife Janice of Fairbury, Nebraska and Larry Duitsman and his wife Gwen of Blue Springs, Nebraska. Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William O. and Grace Harms Johnson, her husband Heye who died on March 4, 1989, an infant grandchild, five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 12, 2004 at the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice, Nebraska with the Rev. Dr. Delmar D. Wiemers and Parish Minister Associate Ernest Waltke officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell, Nebraska. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. in the church chapel. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Oltmans in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home until 9:00 P.M. Saturday, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday. Lena DeBuhr

Lena DeBuhr, 89 years of age, of Beatrice, Nebraska, died Thursday evening, March 25, 2004, at the Beatrice Manor Care Center. She was born on July 30, 1914, at rural Adams, Nebraska and attended Olney School. She was baptized on August 30, 1914, and confirmed on March 24, 1929, at Zion Lutheran Church. She married Martin DeBuhr on January 13, 1935 at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska and they lived and farmed in the Pickrell area. In 1986, she moved to Beatrice. She was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the WELCA of Zion. She enjoyed reading, quilting, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Busboom of Cortland, Nebraska, son Darvin DeBuhr and his wife LaDonna of Beatrice, Nebraska, and a daughter-in-law Shirleen DeBuhr of Adams, Nebraska. Nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. One sister-in-law, Lena Paben of Beatrice, Nebraska. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thole and Grace Miller Tholen, her husband Martin, who died on March 13, 1981, two sons, Roger (1994) and Daylen (1964), a son-in-law, Gerald Busboom, two granddaughters, Lynette Baehr and Gloria Ann Busboom, one great-granddaughter, Christine DeBuhr, five sisters Elsie Zimmerman, Tena Parde, Grace Wallman, Marie Leners, and Matilda Paben, and four brothers John, Allen, Henry and Herman Tholen.

Funeral services for Lena DeBuhr will be Saturday, March 27, 2004, at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, Nebraska, with Pastor Doug Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 P.M. Saturday in the church basement. A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Cemetery Association with Ervin and Elva Parde in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from noon on Friday until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday and then one hour preceding the service at the church.

Jerry Busboom

Jerry Busboom, 88 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital in Beatrice, NE. Wednesday night, January 17, 2007. He was born August 7th, 1918 on a farm near Filley , NE to Thees and Anna (Wallman) Busboom. He attended Wallman Country School , District 38 and later obtained his GED certification. He served his country in the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II from April 18, 1942 until September 12, 1945. He married Dorothy Zimmerman on February 17th, 1946 at Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell, NE.He lived and farmed near Filley , NE , retiring in 1983.He and Dorothy then moved to Beatrice in 1969. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell, NE and was currently a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice, NE. At St. John , he was active in Lutheran Men In Mission and Chairman of the Church Council for five years.He was a charter member of the Gideons International, Beatrice Chapter and a member for 47 years.He served on the school board, was chairman of the Farmers Coop Elevator Board for 15 years, was instrumental in starting the Bear-Pierce-Cedar Creek Watershed District and obtained easements from landowners for many of the early watershed dams.He served on the Advisory Boards of Martin Luther Homes, now known as Mosaic, and The Good Samaritan Home.He worked in Public Relations and as a fundraiser for Martin Luther Homes for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved going for drives in the country. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, Bible studies and baseball games.

Survivors include, daughters, Judy Fischer and husband, Randy, and Janet Byars and husband, Dennis, all of Beatrice , NE. ; Grandchildren, Paul Brinkman and wife, Shannon of Lincoln, NE, Jason Brinkman and wife, Kelly of Peoria, IL, Mark Byars and wife, Nichole of Omaha, NE and Jon athan Byars of Lincoln, NE.Great-grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Brinkman, Joel and Caleb Brinkman and Macy and Spencer Byars; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. (Zimmerman) Busboom on January 10, 2006, his parents, Thees and Anna (Wallman) Busboom, brothers, John, Ehme, Thees and Theodore and sisters, Grace Remmers, Teda Harms, Emma Remmers, Anna Lienemann, and Happy Stevens and an infant sister, Teda Busboom.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 22, 2007 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE. with Reverend David Kramer and Reverend Joann Kramer officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery , R. Pickrell, NE. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Bitting-Norman Post #27, American Legion in Beatrice , NE. The body will lie in state from 9-5:00 Friday and Saturday, and from 11-9:00 Sunday at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. and at the church one hour preceding the service on Monday. A family prayer service will be held at 9:45 A.M. Monday at the church. A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation and St. John Lutheran Church with Raymond and Mildred Spilker in charge.
