BIRCHALL, FREY?
Evangeline BIRCHALL (FREY?) - I have a funeral notice for Hayes Center Nebraska with no date. It lists the Bearers as Jake Hornbaker, Court Fielding, Louis Romersheuser, Elmer Ward, Leslie Minthing, and Ervin Reese. The story is they were grandsons/children of relatives. Evangeline is supposed to have had a daughter Margeret (again this is passed on story.) There is a tombstone listed with her name and that of a man who appears to be her husband.

BRAUGH, COOPER, GABLER
I am trying to find information about my 3rd Great Grandfather, W.R BRAUGH. He is listed in the Hayes County Heritage Book 1877-1977, but that is the only reference I have found of him. He was married to Sarah GABLER and had a daughter Lucy Montana and a son Roger. I would appreciate any information you can find on Mr. Braugh or his family. Lucy married James COOPER who is also listed in the Hayes County Heritage Book.
NOTES on ROWLEY & COOPER, ARMACOST: Information posted in the internet on Hayes County, I read that Lou Armstrong was appointed treasurer. I have a copy of a newspaper article that printed a letter that my 2nd Great Grandfather James Cooper wrote to Erle Rowley about an indian raid in 1878 in which Mr. Rowleys father, George Rowley was killed. In the letter James said that it was Lou Armacost, (who was a rancher) who was the man appointed to County treasurer in 1885 and James kept the books and was afterwards elected for two years to succeed him. The letter was written in 1930. It tells of some of the history of Hayes County and Wauneta. I would be more than happy to send a copy of the letter to you. Thank you for any help you can give me with tracing the Braugh family.

BUTTERFIELD, COZARD
My grandmother , Margaret Elizabeth BUTTERFIELD, was born at Hayes Center, Ne. 12-9-1886. Her father was William C. BUTTERFIELD and her mother was Mary COZARD (BUTTERFIELD). They probably arrived sometime in 1885-86 and took up farming. I believe my grandmother and two more children were born there - Nellie in April, 1892 and Bennie (Benjamin) 1893? Mary C. Butterfield died in the early 1890's possible bearing the last child? William then moved back to Dade Co., MO, where they had come from and later remarried and had one or two more children. Any information you might have on these ancestors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help. Regards,
