Keya Paha Co., Nebraska Places
Keya Paha County, Nebraska was created 4 November 1884 by legislative act. Keya Paha
County was previously part of Brown and Holt Counties. It was named for the Keya Paha
River in the northeastern part of the county. The Keya Paha River derived it's name from
the Dakota Indian title Turtle Hill River (ke'- ya for turtle, pa-ha' for hill, and wa-kpi' for
