HELEN M. SARGENT, A. B., '05
Helen M. Sargent, of Lincoln, died of influenza at Ft. Slocum, long Island, October 20, 1918. She enlisted as a
Red Cross nurse in August, was sent to Camp Bowie, Fort Worth, Texas, September 4, and was selected for
overseas duty in October. When she reached New York, the influenza epidemic was raging and she was sent to Ft. Slocum
to assist in the nursing. Here she herself fell a victim to the disease.
